Logistics
The transportation of people and goods to and from a factory is an integral part of every production process. And every single transport leads to further CO2 emissions. For terracare® we work together with our employees and business partners to achieve optimal logistics that protect the environment.
Due to its long history and established structure as a traditional, family-owned company, the Heinen leather factory is located in the core of the city of Wegberg. Many of our employees live close to the company and come to work on foot or by bike. There are no long trips to work, and that saves CO2. It also has the additional, very useful and pleasant advantage that our employees are not stuck in traffic, giving them more time for their families. And we also actively support those who do have to come by car by organising the shifts so that these employees can form car pools.
Together with our logistics partner and our suppliers, we do everything we can to make the deliveries as environmentally friendly as possible. We purchase our supplies from local companies whenever we can to reduces transport emissions. The raw materials come from German slaughterhouses and are delivered fresh. And by the way: short transportation routes are not only good for the environment, but also for the quality of the leather. Chemicals are bought exclusively in Germany or our neighbouring countries to ensure high quality and short delivery routes. That means shorter distances for the trucks, less CO2 emissions and a better environment.
