The production of leather requires the use of chemicals – this is an unchangeable fact and is also true for the terracare® label. Here again the rule applies: less is more – for our environment. That is why we use as few chemicals as possible. And we apply several very demanding principles. We use only high-quality chemicals from Germany and western Europe. Wherever possible, we use the ones that are biodegradable. The guidelines we set ourselves are much more stringent than the already very strict guidelines set by German law. REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) is a European law on chemicals that also presents us with a number of challenges that we gladly meet. Under REACH, every chemical is carefully checked and certified for its specific application. Since we buy all of our raw materials in Germany and western Europe, all of the chemicals we use are automatically classified, registered and controlled by REACH. And yet, every day we learn a bit more about this very complex topic and apply that knowledge as quickly as we can to the production of terracare® leather.

The substances we use are delivered on modern trucks and in recyclable containers. They are stored in special and very safe tanks and they are used as quickly as possible in automated, closed systems. This approach has many advantages: a high degree of work safety for our employees, no waste, and no pollution of the work area.
